Performance Setup
Go to: HR → Setup → Performance Setup
Performance Setup defines how you measure people: what you measure (KPIs), when (cycles), how (templates), and how scores are labeled. Day-to-day appraisals and 1-on-1s live under Performance.
1. Key Performance Indicator (KPI)
Go to: HR → Setup → Performance Setup → Key Performance Indicator
A KPI is one measurable criterion (for example On-time Delivery, Quality Score, Team Collaboration).
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Title | Name of the KPI |
| Description | How it should be judged |
Status: Draft → Active → Inactive
2. Appraisal Cycle
Go to: HR → Setup → Performance Setup → Appraisal Cycle
An Appraisal Cycle is a time box for reviews (Q1 2026, FY 2025–26, Mid-year Review).
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Cycle Name | Display name |
| Start / End Date | Window for the cycle |
| Description | Optional notes |
Status: Draft → Active → Inactive
Appraisals, goals, and calibration sessions link to a cycle.
3. Appraisal Template
Go to: HR → Setup → Performance Setup → Appraisal Template
An Appraisal Template is a reusable set of KPIs with weightages for standardized evaluations.
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Title | Template name |
| KPI lines + Weightage | Which KPIs apply and how much each counts |
Status: Draft → Active → Inactive
Keep weightages sensible (typically totaling 100%) so scores stay comparable across employees.
4. Score Labels
Go to: HR → Setup → Performance Setup → Score Labels
Score Labels name the rating scale used in performance reviews (for example 1 = Needs Improvement … 5 = Outstanding), with optional colors and display order.
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Score Value | Numeric score |
| Label | Text shown to reviewers |
| Color / Order / Active | Display and availability |
These labels appear when reviewers enter feedback scores (including employee portal flows).
After Performance Setup
In Performance:
- Create appraisals from a cycle + template
- Set goals linked to KPIs / cycles
- Run self, peer, and manager reviews
- Optionally calibrate ratings across teams
- Use 1-on-1 categories, series, and meetings for ongoing coaching
