Choose a payment task
| Task | Open |
|---|---|
| Record or review money received, paid, or transferred | Payment Entry |
| Match an unallocated payment or credit with an invoice | Payment Reconciliation |
| Review an earlier reconciliation or reverse an incorrect allocation | Payment Reconciliation History |
Payment Reconciliation changes how an existing payment is allocated. It does not record another movement in the cash or bank account.
Before you start
- Confirm the payment date, amount, currency, and bank reference from the supporting document
- Use a Cash or Bank account that represents the account where money actually moved
- Select the correct Customer, Supplier, Employee, or other party
- Allocate only against documents supported by the payment
- Keep an unexplained amount unallocated until it can be identified
For statement matching after a payment is recorded, use Bank Reconciliation.
