Bill of Materials (BOM)

Go to: Manufacturing → BOM Detail

A BOM defines the raw materials, sub-assemblies, operations, and quantities required to manufacture a finished product.

Example BOM

Finished Product: Business Laptop (LAPTOP-001) ├── Motherboard (MB-001) x1 │ ├── CPU (CPU-001) x1 │ ├── RAM Module 16GB (RAM-001) x2 │ └── SSD 512GB (SSD-001) x1 ├── Display 15.6" (DSP-001) x1 ├── Battery Pack (BAT-001) x1 ├── Chassis (CHS-001) x1 ├── Keyboard (KBD-001) x1 └── Power Adapter (PWR-001) x1

Creating a BOM

Navigate to Manufacturing → BOM Detail and click New.

FieldDescription
ItemThe finished good to be produced
QuantityQuantity produced by this BOM (usually 1)
Is ActiveWhether this BOM is the current/default BOM
Is DefaultMark as the default BOM for this item

Add Materials

In the Materials table, add each raw material or sub-assembly:

FieldDescription
ItemRaw material or sub-assembly
QuantityQuantity required per BOM unit
UOMUnit of measure
WarehouseSource warehouse for this material

Add Operations

In the Operations table, add each manufacturing operation:

FieldDescription
OperationThe manufacturing operation (e.g., Assembly)
WorkstationThe workstation where this operation is performed
Time (min)Standard time to complete the operation

Workstations

Go to: Manufacturing → Workstation

Workstations represent machines or work areas on the production floor.

FieldDescription
Workstation NameName (e.g., Assembly Line A, CNC Machine)
Workstation TypeCategory of workstation
Production CapacityHours available per day
Holiday ListNon-working days for this workstation

Operations & Routing

  • Operations — Define individual manufacturing steps (e.g., Cutting, Welding, Assembly).
  • Routing — A sequence of operations that can be reused across multiple BOMs.
