Budgets
Go to: Financials → Budget
Budgets control and monitor spending for one Project or Cost Center within a Fiscal Year.
Create a budget
Enter basic information
Click Create Budget and enter Name, optional Code and Description, and Fiscal Year.
Select the dimension
Choose Project or Cost Center, then select the specific record.
Choose the period
Select Monthly, Quarterly, or Yearly and enter Total Budget Amount.
Choose enforcement
Select Block Transaction, Warn Only, or No Enforcement. Choose whether the budget applies to Purchase Order and Purchase Invoice.
Allocate
Review period allocations. Add item allocations when the budget needs item-level control.
Save and approve
Save Draft, review the complete allocation and utilization summary, then approve to make it Active.

Enforcement modes

| Block Transaction | The action cannot continue when the applicable budget is exceeded |
| Warn Only | ERPX shows the impact and requires confirmation |
| No Enforcement | Utilization is monitored without blocking or warning |
Budget checks can apply to Purchase Orders, Purchase Invoices, Journal Entry expense rows, and other implemented expense-posting workflows carrying the same Project or Cost Center.
Budget lifecycle

| Draft | Editable and waiting for approval |
| Active | Approved and used for validation/utilization |
| Inactive | Temporarily not enforced; can be reactivated |
| Closed | Finished and no longer changeable |
| Cancelled | Abandoned before use according to allowed actions |
Approve moves Draft to Active. Active can be made Inactive or Closed. Inactive can be reactivated or cancelled.
Period and item allocations should add up to the intended budget. Review the utilization summary before approval; only Draft budgets are editable.
Utilization
Utilization compares budget against applicable approved commitments and actual expense postings. Drill into source documents when the total is unexpected; do not alter the budget simply to hide an incorrect posting.
